North Carolina Medicare Supplement plans are ready to undergo big changes, effective June 1, 2010, just like Medicare Supplement plans around the country. June 1 is the date that the the ‘Medigap Modernization Act’ goes into effect.

- Plans E, H, I and J will be eliminated completely.
- At Home Recovery and Preventive Care benefits will be eliminated from all plans that included them.
- Hospice care will be added as a core benefit in all plans.
- Plan M and Plan N will be introduced. Both plans will use cost-sharing method (deductibles, co-pays) to allow for lower plan premiums.
If you have current North Carolina Medicare Supplement plan coverage, be assured that your current coverage will not be affected in any way. This only applies to those who turn 65 on or after June 1, 2010 or those who switch plans on or after that date.
